Looking for a V-Ray/ArchViz tutor in the Vancouver, Canada area...

Hi all,

My name is Glenn, from Richmond, Canada. I'm fairly new here, and very excited about building my skills through the knowledge of people here.

I attended The Vancouver Film School in 1992 (Digipen) when 3ds was built for MS-DOS only. After that, I pursued work in film, web design, and audio production, so I allowed the 3D work to go stale. I never really evolved past the basics. On occasion, I'd do a project for a client, but it was very generic type work.

In November, I'll be moving to Brazil. After researching the job market, it turns out that my best shot at employment in the city is Architectural Visualization. So I'm throwing all of my other talents into a storage box, and focusing on 3DS and Vray.

I'd like to hire a tutor, locally, that can show me what they know. My focus is on lighting, and ensuring that I have the necessary knowledge to import AutoCAD files and understand all of the data within.

For lighting, I'd want to focus on HDRI and vray lighting, but I'd like to find someone that has a real artistic approach to it.

As for the AutoCAD aspect, I need to be confident that I can accept any ACAD file from a professional architect and deal with it.

I'd like to hire someone who has an outstanding portfolio that can come to my place for 2 hrs on a Saturday, or Sunday, twice a month.

For this, is $50 an hour a reasonable price? I'd want this to go for about 2 or 3 months, so it would be a $5-600 job.

Does anyone know of someone in the Vancouver area that would be up for it?

Hi there, not sure if you still need someone but I have just moved to Vancouver and have some time on my hands.

I have about 5 years experience with Vray, and can run through all the key lighting elements. Along with proxies, particle systems, quality material settings that render efficiently, vray physical cameras, render settings for animation, etc etc.

Cheers

M

Hi Martin, thanks. Since I got no response here, I posted to Craiglist and got a few responses. However, all of these guys are between jobs, and are unable to commit for a long duration. If I'm in need, I'll see if you're still available...
