3ds max 2011 - Unwrap UVW Help

Hi guys I found this forum threw a series of Google searches while trying to find some tutorials or information on what I'm having problems with so figured I'd join here to see if i can get some expert help.

 

I have made a large space ship model with interior in 3ds max 2011 and added a Unwrap UVW Map modifier and I have arranged the map how I want it but i need some sections to be on their own material because all the textures when doing flatten mapping wont fix in the blue sections and if i scale it all down to fit the textures will be blurry specially when I add text detail to them.

 

What I am wanting to do is separate sections of the UVW Map so the Mesh is still in one peace but I can have separate materials for each section? is this possible? because that way I can scale small sections large and they will fit in the limits of the Map screen.

 

Hope I worded this well and someones able to give me some ideas on what I need to do or link me to some suitable tutorials.
