John Dollus
not sure what you mean by 'baby lights'. if you are talking about concealed lights around the outside perimeter to provide uplighting to the dome, then creating a meshlight frm the top faces of a tube primitive will give you what you want. shikodesign2000
You know these small lights used in decoration, they can used in exterior on villa fences in occasion wedding for example, and also can be used in interior like walls or domes. or also can be used for Christmas tree, did you got me? John Dollus
ah, yes. to simulate perhaps a star field in the dome? for that, i'd paint a texture map of the point light pattern and use that as a mask with a vraylight material just to get the self illumination visible. i wouldn't try and use it as an actual GI contributing source though. the output of those is pretty insignificant so it's just the visual representation you are after. make sense? Eric
I believe this is the effect you're after. Pretty simple to create - just use a Blend material. Put your "Base" graphic in one slot, and the "Light" material in the other. Paint a "Star" scene in your graphics program (I like to use Photoshop's scatter settings to paint stars), and use that Star graphic as your mask. The result will give you something like the attached image I just created for an example.
John Dollus
sorry i got busy on a project. Blend material would work too. here's what I was suggesting. oops - quickly posted this as I was running out to catch the train. blend map is the way to go so you can mix emitting and receiving material types in the dome Edited May 5, 2011 by John Dollus
