michaelidesm
I would try this: while the file is open click :file-new-keep objects and save the new file. try to render it. I cant promise anything just an idea.

John Dollus
if you use the mesh and instance them instead, does it still hang? depending on your ram, proxies may be hurting more than helping in this case. no idea why it would render in 7 but not xp64 though if the OS is the only thing that changed. are the proxies located on your local system or on a network drive? If not on your local system, I'd suggest trying that to remove any network or remote hardware issues.
clip 911
yeah i did that too. if i try to make instance of any object its fine and rendering(proxies hide) . but the moment i bring any proxy into my scene the rendering just hangs, the time just keep go on increasing. and the proxies are on local system. John Dollus
well, then, i wouldn't use proxies in this file. if you create a new file with only a camera and light and add in one of those same proxies or even create a new proxy, does it also hang? how about your system specs?
