Noise
I use Log Me In to access the office computers from home but the refresh for 3ds Max is almost nonexistent which makes it very difficult to use Max. Does anyone else use this and have you been able to overcome this problem ?
Crazy Homeless Guy
You can not model remotely. It is just not going to happen. The best you can do is open a file, and hit render. You can make a few changes to the model and parameters, but not a lot. Mostly you can just send and check renderings remotely. Alternately, ..if you are on a work machine at home, you can check out a 3dsMax license, and use that on the computer/laptop or, you could see if your company is willing to go through the process of giving you a home license. I don't know the details, but I believe all of Autodesk's products allow you to install a second copy on a home computer. This may also deal with borrowing a license, but I am not 100% sure. Noise
Its not to model remotely - its more basic than that for example, I can't see the list of geometry in the Select by Scene dialog - it just doesn't show the list of items. All I want to do is view the dialog boxes and see what I would normally see when max is open. Strangely there isn't the same problem with other software. Crazy Homeless Guy
Usually I can see the dialog boxes ok, but often have trouble with actual geometry when using Remote Desktop and a Cisco VPN. To get around this I switch the geometry to OpenGL instead DirectX. I doubt this will help with dialog boxes though.
Ricardo Eloy
You can try changing the graphics mode to Software. That could help, I guess...
armilla
I've not tried Log Me In, but with Go To My PC I was able to model in 3ds Max remotely and use all the functions, just as long as it wasn't a really heavy scene. I think Go To My PC have a 30 day demo you can try.
Simon Moir
Can you use a home license?
Sketchrender
I hope they have changed the way it used to be, which was export a file every evening to bring home and enter it at home to get it to work. A real pain when your trying to get out of the office or you don't want to go back into the office. phil
armilla
The 3ds max licence will allow you to have it installed on 2 computers, so you can have it at home and in the office, without all the export/import licence file hassle.
