watersage
Hi, I'm trying to get some polyllines from ACAD 2002 into C4D v.8.2 for use to attach splines for top and bottom of walls - the walls are very free form and a lot like slilghtly melted chocolate. They are OLD mud adobe and are already done in ACAD. Strat, others, how would you do this? I thought I'd loft them in C4d, then slice-n-dice and hyper nurb 'em and adjust the thing for edge.point, etc weights as needed. What do you think? Just need to get those p-lines there first. Thank you,

watersage
Thanks STRAT, great thread! My sentiments exactly for a couple of years now. Well I have previously written to Maxon about exactly the lack of communication between the 2 softwares – Cinema and ACAD. Their indirect response to me was only to make some plugin for ARCHICAD, which is nice, but of no use to me or a lot of ACAD users. I can only speculate what a great increase of sales might have been for Cinema. Such a plug for ACAD must be nearly imposible, as so many use Cinema but none has shown up yet. So I have just finally ordered my copy of VIZ 2005 to be used with V-Ray as soon as I can posibly learn it. Im looking forward to it too. The community seems quite nice – besides being architecturally oriented. But it has not arrived yet and I need to get this thing done for a client LONG before I can learn VIZ. I just recently read that you use ACAD and Cinema, so I thought to drop you this note/post. Thanks for your quick reply – I have a lousy temporary solution which is to give the p-lines a z-thickness (1/32”-US) and then export them. Works more or less. I can always select the points and adjust them to zero (Y-cord) after snapping a spline. Whew…what a workaround and just one more dumb solution, I'm afraid. Thank you for your quick response. STRAT
yeah, the acad-c4d connection with regaurd to 2d splines/arcs/stuff is laughable. i use the acad-viz method. totally reliable and solid.
TheAllusionisst
A little off topic perhaps, but does anyone have experience with the new Nugraf/Polytrans DWG compatibility feature? It could be useful for translating Autocad drawings into other packages. FWIW I am just currious, it would be great to get AutoCad drawings into 3D packages without errors and corrupt meshes. Here is to living in a perfect world! LOL
