Peddlespam
I'm working on a scene with glass text and getting some strange refraction artefacts in the renders (Vray version 2). I'm pretty sure it's not my model that's the problem so does anyone know what Vray settings might be causing this? I've added arrows to show exactly what I mean in the image below. Can anyone suggest some settings to get rid of this? Peddlespam
That was my first thought but I increased the max reflections/refractions and it had no effect. Turns out it was the image sampler, my least favourite of Vray's features *sigh* I was using the Adaptive Subdivision sampler since it smoothed out the GI nicely with fewer GI samples. After switching to Adaptive DMC the opposite was true, the glossy effects were smoothed out nicely but the GI was far too grainy. In the end I stuck with DMC and boosted the GI samples. My render times are about the same which I didn't expect, but the new renders look much better. Now I just have to tweak the lighting a little before I do my full resolution renders With the glass issues sorted does anyone have any comments or advice on improving this scene in general?
