need advice for best cheap vga for max

Recommended Posts

dear all... im so sorry if i do repost...

here my spec,

processor : amd x4 955 normal clock

memory : 1x4G vgen 1333

motherboard : biostar with radeon 4520 on board memory

hardisk : seagate 500G sata II 7200rpm

PSU : 500 Watt pure

monitor : led viewsonic 19" at 1440x900

===============================================

software : 3dmax 2011 and autocad 2011

usage : mainly for modelling, im not really intend in gaming.

==============================================

im just new on 3d modelling, last time i have 60Mb max file and 10M poly on my scene. on wireframe mode, the fps drop on 0,5-0,05 (i feel the lag is 5-10 second to move). the biggest poly took by onyx object, it took almost 80% of the scene. but i cant make it on box mode because sometime i need the leaf to place in correct position.

===============================================

1. what vga should i buy to handle 10M poly? my max budget is about $200. (but i can expand little more if really2 worth)

a. is it ok if i take mid gaming vga such as hd 6950, than low profesional such as fx 580?

b. if the choice is gaming vga, what the consideration to buy? is ammount of memory, or memory interface? in this case is it will make big difference between HD 6950 2Gb 256Bit DDR5 and GTS 450 2Gb 128Bit DDR3? or do you have other cheap vga option? because i ever heard that 8800 series is bang for the buck. cmiiw plz

===============================================

and about memory, the vray is fail to render if i disable paging file. so i enable it and the render si go up. :)

a. what difference if i add the memory? is it really2 important to go?

b. now i insert cheap 1x4G ~ 1333mhz memory, if the memory is a must, what the memory you advised?

c. last time in my daydream im planning to maximise my slot to add 3x4G ~ 1333, so the total in my system is 4x4G. but i dont know the advantage, so i suspend it. can you expain to me wheter its a useless or right plan?

tx so much for your reply

Uhm 200$ ? How about the price in your country ?

-A HD 4250 mean that you are using a AMD 785G mobo ?? You should sell your CPU to buy a AMD X6 1055T + a 2nd HD4850 VGA (1gb memory if possible ) .

-Max 2012 will give your better viewport performance .

-Watch the task manager to know how much ram does your computer use ?
