joeykeys
Hi, Just wondering if anyone out there has a clue of what sort of rendering engine / post work has been applied to achieve the following renderings? What sort of light setting should be applied to achieve this sort of dazzling glowing feel of render? What i mean by "non" photorealistic is that i'm referring to photo that doesn't touch too much on real world material or trying to simulate a real world setting render. luckyluc
I would say, first render it, and then do a lot of photoshop. Use things like lensfilter, blur, and gloweffects to achieve result,
jcaddy
I think the key to these types of images is the contrast. You see a lot of blown out glow in specific areas where the sun or lights are shining. In shadowed areas you see rich dark tones and almost a lack of detail. As mentioned above, it's really just a matter of playing around in photoshop, you're not going to get something like this straight out of your render engine. Good luck, these types of images are challenging yet pretty fun to work on!
M V
If you go to Vyonyx's website and look under their tutorials section, I think they discuss how they use Photoshop to render scenes. These guys are very generous and give a lot of insight into their process as well as sharing 'freebies'. Great site if you have never been there. I think the simple answer to your question is a lot of Photoshop. Maybe a little bit of a base model that was a quick export, and then play with levels and adjustment layers in Photoshop. Jason Bergeron
Thanks for that link to Vyonyx, Valero. All of my visualizations are heavily Photoshopped, and it is interesting to see the workflow of others as well as some of their techniques. As to joeykeys original post, where you render it is almost moot. As everyone else stated, these are a result of great Photoshop work. Check out the short video of the steps on Philipp Schaerer's website. He does all of Herzog & de Meuron's visualizations. He is a master. Other studios producing work which I love to reference are Luxigon and Labtop.
