Jonathanb
Hello everyone, I'm a beginner and wanted to make a simple infinite background. In C4D it was easy, but 3ds max is a bit different. I'm using the new Autodesk 3Ds Max 2012 x64. I already tried this simple howto which didn't work for me. When i do this the plane becomes black like the background. But what he is doing is what I want to make in the 2012 version. Here is my project file: Can someone help a beginner with this? Jonathanb
Underneath are the two pictures that I have. The left one has a infinite white background and plane although this is a illusion. They used the material Matte/Shadow to accomplish this. In the right picture you have my comp. As you can see I have a big white plane, text, normal light and a sky light. I used the same Matte/Shadow material on the plane but it didn't work like in the video that I posted in my first post. How can I achieve the same result as in the first picture with Autodesk 3ds Max 2012? sanmb
Hi john, To get infinite plane,I guess you are using plane in standard primitives please check size of the plane and increase as much you want to get infinite effect. The other method is just use v-ray plane.
Jonathanb
Hey Sanmb, Thank you for your reply. I can't make a plane that is that large, because my render time would be large too. I haven't seen a v-ray plane unless you mean that I need to use v-ray materials on the plane. Where can I find this v-ray plane in 3ds Max 2012? --- John
sanmb
Click on standard premitives slot, roll on to v-ray and u will find v-ray plane.
