pcote4
I need to genrate some section views of a large model. In AutoCAD, and several applications, you can set the clipping plane for a camera. It appears that there is no way to use clipping planes in camera views in Cinema. Is that correct?
pcote4
I didn't word my question, about clipping planes, very well, but I solved the problem in a round about way. I downloaded the Softimage XSI demo. It does clipping planes and a whole lot more. I was very impressed by the way it handles large models (90 Mb plus). I thought Cinema was good at this, but there is no comparison! The Mental Ray renderer is at least as fast as Cinema's. The full basic version is less than the reported upgrade cost from version 8.5 to 9. Just curious why it's has not been used much for Architectural work, but that may change soon. Wonder if anyone else is looking at changing?
Mike Abbott
If you can live with a parallel view (rather than a perspective), it's very easy... Set up a camera and view throught it. Change it to 'parallel' in the attributes manager. You use the 'zoom' control to affect the width of the view. Then position the camera itself *within* the building, when you want the section. ... you have your sectional view Mike Abbott http://www.vgd.co.uk
