reflection question

Recommended Posts

if you are working in max, you need to use for reflection raytrace, and use in the specific backgrund item (in the raytrace map menu) use the same image as the background you will put, and flip it vertically (in the floor you will see the same image flipped), you can do that adjusting the map with tilling 0.5, mirror clicked, and offset of -0.5 (all in vertical direction) and adjust the image with the place bitmap option to show the part you like....

I hope this can help you

I do indeed use Max 6 with finalRender. The background is not a map (thanks anyway Juan), until now I only use this color. Strat, if you look at a floor (which has a minimum of glossiness) underneath a window, you will see clearly the light reflected from outside, even if nothing else is clearly reflected. HDRI could do the trick, but I would only use it for the floor, and fR HDRI is still bugged in Max 6... But I'm sure there must be another way...

Ah, an fR user! But it doesn't have anything to do with the app on itself, even not with GI. The effect that I want to get is like this (I felt free to use someone else's work) Probably this person used a self-iluminating glass in the window, but then again that's a bit like using HDRI (with a high value all over the window). Doesn't anybody ever use this effect?
