djwang
hi guys thanks for reading my thread i have been trying to create caustic dispersion in mental ray with no success and have seen some plugins available but they dont work for 64 bit versions of max. i have also heard that mental ray cannot do this . so i thought i better ask the experts. am trying to split white light using a prism if this describes my task better. thanks guys

djwang
hi hot chip i was reading some of your other posts at cg society , and you were suggesting L_glass shader, but i could nt get it to work with max 2010. nor could i get big muh,s defraction shader , master zaps dispertion hack was the best i could muster but this is to time consuming. ive downloaded the trial version . could you tell me the limitations of the trial version Please. thanks djwang
thorsten hartmann
hi the limitation of the free vesion is only the dataset managment. At the Pro Verison can you create different Datasets for each Cameras. All other Functions work in Pro + Free Version. mfg hot chip

thorsten hartmann
ok i think it is a problem of the viewport. Can you enable HardwareViewport Shading? That not work ony your system, say photostudio.
thorsten hartmann
ah ok i found the error. You must use DirectX mode not OpenGL.
