chow choppe
Hi everyone I need advice and help for organizing my 3d work in office. right now we have 4- 5 machines in the office and my main machine is the file that holds all the project files, texture files and other things. so if someone has to work on a file he archives that file from my PC, copies to his PC and then start working on that project. because if he accesses that file directly from the network from My PC the original textures are lost as they were on my PC and now the file is being worked on the other PC so he needs to reassign the paths of these textures . also working through networking directly is really slow as compared to local drive working. So we basically need one machine where i am also accessing like others so that all the project files and other libraries (textures , models) rest on that machine. is it what they call a server machine? which need not be a complete PC but should be a file manager for everything and it shud be a super fast machine so that we can directly work on the server and anyone can access that file directly and in that case he doesnt have to copy file everytime and for PCs on the network the texture paths will remain same so if i acess that file or someone else does everything stays on that server. please help me with this. dont want a very very expensive option but an option that will solve my problem and make the work more organised Thanks
