RevitGary
I know this has been covered but I am not seeing an answer to my specific problem. I get the missing map files warning when opening a project. Fine you are supposed to tell max where the maps are located. I get this. The problem is I dont have the maps at all. I cant tell max where they are located because they have been deleted from my computer. How do I clean up my missing maps so I do not get this message anymore? I am in max 2011 and I do not use the new mental ray material browser it crashes my scene.
luthias42
easiest way is to make a new map (even if it just a 1 pixel) in PS give it the same name and file type then point it at that map.
RevitGary
These maps are embedded in many objects. Is there an easy way to see what material / object they are applied to?
luthias42
Easy. Not that I know of. however, in the material editor open the material/Map browser and uncheck root only. that will give a list of all the maps in the scene and then just scoll down til you see the map. it'll also tell you what objects have that material on them. rabit1
yeah this has bugged me a long time, especially if you do a lot of network rendering ... the problem with material editor is that not all map material is listed on the editor.. Many objects don't necesarily have its Materials setting shows up on the editor.. There must be an easier way to hunt down which objects has missing maps. Giving a bogus 1 pixel map is not a solution, because you may actually need the missing map file. Is there a script somewhere than can do this? luthias42
you might try scriptspot.com. that's the best place I know of to get all different kinds of scripts and I'm almost positive I've seen a bitmap locator on there.
