Alyosha
Hello, I have a problem with LC when doing an animation....as suggested, for animation purposes, I set LC to World Scale and fly through mode, the problem is though, that with world scale on, it gives me a splotchy solution, as seen on the picture. If I change to screen mode and keep everything else the same, it gives me a perfect render. I've set LC to 2000 samples and I've tried various things like changing interpolation and trying different sample sizes, but there were no major changes in the final render. What is going on?:-) Scene is part of the larger interior scene with about 5 rooms. Not the corners by the ceiling, ***splotchy***....don't mind the overall blurriness, from some reason the forum compressed it or something, but thats not an issue... matthewgriswold
2000 subdivisions seems pretty low for an animation. Those subdivisions are spread across the entire sequence, so try tripling the subdivisions (play with that number) and try out a scale around 2-4 inches. Alyosha
Thanks, I actually thought about that, but won't that require ridiculous amounts of ram?
Alyosha
never mind, it worked, thanks a lot:-)
matthewgriswold
Good, no problem. I've never actually paid attention to how much RAM is used by the light cache calculation, so I wish I could give you a reasonable answer. But, with anything CG, ram is king. Hopefully with everyone getting more towards 64bit that won't be a factor much longer...
Alyosha
In case you're wondering, raising the LC subdivs from 2 to 6000 didn't really use much more ram, if at all...cca 8 gb i think used by max during the process
