efilana
Hello Crowd! I ahve been having troubles with shadow channel. It is just empty. It shouldn't be a brainer, right? I looked everywhere to troubleshoot, but to no avail. Maybe somebody had similar experience? I use Rhino+Maxwell.
Brodie Geers
Maxwell's shadow channel works very differently from most. Basically, by default everything casts a shadow but nothing will receive shadows (so it will show up as a white image). You have to go into the material properties and check the Shadow box (not sure where that is in Rhino, but it'll be in the material properties somewhere). For example, I often do this for my grass material which I will later replace in post. My shadow channel will be completely white except for where the shadows fall on my grass so I can plug it in on a multiply layer. What it isn't for is some sort of ambient occlusion channel. -Brodie
efilana
Brodie, thank you very much - it worked. I found the shadow check box in material editor window. Thank you!

Brodie Geers
could you post some screenshots? Environmental settings, at least one material's settings, and the image generated as the shadow channel would be helpful -Brodie
