Justin Hunt
DLF has regular meets in each major city, but for on-line I'm not too sure. We tried to start a group here but it hasn't really taken off though. jhv

Thanks for the info!

Be interesting to know how many Archviz guys there are in the Brisbane area and if there are opportunities in the industry? Ttandc
Like Justin has said, DLF is probably the only one you will find and that's more of a mail out list than a website forum. As the CGI industry in general is very small over here compared to other places. The CGI games industry is always closing studios or laying off staff so forums are rare. The architecture side of CGI is even more recluse.

Justin Hunt
There is alot of competition here, most of us are either 1 or 2 man bands, work in-house and freelance after hours. There are very few larger studios around. Sydney and Melbourne are the most popular. Brisbane is fast catching up. Perth has a few very good companies. jhv
Nic H
who are the main studios in Melbourne these days?
Ttandc
Hard to say these days. I would have said chrome at one stage but they've been shutting down studios and laying off staff like all the others.

Ttandc
Sorry, my mistake they spell it with a k. That's a studio for games though but probably the biggest CGI studio in Oz at the moment. http://www.kromestudios.com/
Nic H
ah ok - still not heard of them and they arent architectural - appear to do low end games what is there architecture wise that people know of? I know FloodSlicerGollings used to have a few people?
Ttandc
In terms of Architecture CGI I haven't heard of any in a long time. Like Justin said on the first page, I also think that a lot of the Architects are down to 1 or 2 man bands or just freelancers. Others might have heard of some though. Justin Hunt
top of my head in Melbourne there is, Scharp Design, Squint Opera (I dont know how big the Melbourne office is), iDF. Perth is LastPixel and Pixel Focus. Brisbane has Liquid Animation who sometimes do arch viz stuff, but I know quite a few really good freelancers. Sega Australia is in Brisbane, but thats games. Gold Coast has Roam, who do realtime animations. There are others of course, the seach of members in Australia is around 14 pages, though not all of them are around still
Stan Zaslavsky
unfortunately the guy who started up the Aussie 3D group on here - is no longer around - and he was the main driver of getting the group going. Bold Impressions do some great work down in Tassie too - and Orbit Solutions in Melbourne are also quite large @R3nder - what was your main objective for finding out Aussie companies? are you planning to move downunder? afterglow
who are the main studios in Melbourne these days? Hey Nic.. Flood Slicer pretty much have things sewn up here in Melbs these days... They land most of the big jobs, Scharp still doing ok from what I hear, but there's not many around who can compete with the consistent quality of FS.
