R.Stewart
Ok I'm sure this is an easy one but I can't figure it out. I use scale all the time if I want to make things bigger or smaller and all of a sudden if I try to scale in one direction the object will scale non-uniformly in all directions. I say non-uniformly because it seems to scale at different ratios in all directions. Not keeping the original shape. I want to make all walls in my scene a little bit higher so it's quite annoying. I know there are other ways around it but I'll be needing scale a lot more down the track also. Is there a magic button to press? Please help me. R.Stewart
Also I'd like to add, my hot keys to exit SO level in edit poly have stopped working. e.g. if I'm in vertex SO level I'd usually press the 1 key to exit vertex SO edit mode. Any ideas? P.S. I'm using 2012 and I've had a few funny problems. Thanks in advance.
R.Stewart
ok new scene, new scaling issue. I'm working through the 2009 3DATS book and it's asking me to use the non-uniform scale feature and it just isn't there for me. I know I'm supposed to hit the scale button to scroll through the options i.e.Select and Uniform Scale,Select and Non-Uniform Scale and Select and Squash And be able to choose an axis to scale along and a percentage to scale down/up by. But I hit it and nothing happens. So I right click and I get the scale 'transform type in' with the x,y and z greyed out so I can only scale uniformly. I'd love to know what is up with it. Dave Buckley
when you click the scale tool, your gizmo should change to represent the scale tool being active right? turn your percentage snaps on and then hover your mouse over the relevant axis on the gizmo, click and drag, that will scale your object non-uniformly
R.Stewart
Well boy do I feel silly. If you click and HOLD on the scale tool the other options are made available. This must have been the issue with the first scene, I must have inadvertently selected the 'select and squash' option and was getting bad results. The help menu said nothing about HOLD! I should've known Anyway thanks for the reply Dave, This thread was a waste of electricity.
notamondayfan
If you use the scale short-cut ®, and click it more than once, it will cycle through the different scale modes. Maybe you did that?
