Jumpy Pan & Scan in Premiere Pro CS5

Hey guys,

This has been driving me nuts for years, but this year it seems to have gotten worse. I'm finishing up the editing of the videos for the 3dawards ceremony in a few weeks and am doing some pan and scan on some still images, but once rendered the moves across the images are very jumpy. Almost as though I am watching a movie at 5 frames a second. It's always been a problem, but for some reason this year it's unwatchable. The images are quite big (5000 x 7000) so that's the only big difference. I'm rendering the final to an MP4 H.264 at 1280 x 720, VBR 2 pass target of 4 Mbps. Any ideas why this is happening and how to smooth out the playback/rendering?

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff do you have CS3, I had to revert back to it because CS5 was so screwy.

I do, but it did this with CS3 too, just not as bad. I re-rendered with WMV and it was significantly better, but not gone entirely, so I'm thinking it has something to do with a codec setting. Perhaps it's a keyframe issue or a frame rate. I rendered all of these at 24p to match most of the films that were submitted this way.
