colorID
hi all, this could be very silly Q,but can any one please tell me what does Z-buffer mean?and why it s used? i was browsing 3ds max reference manual as i was told that this could be a way to render two parts seperatly in a scene. like a big scene with rpc's i can render out the scene then the rpc's using the z-buffer best regards, M. Jennifer
The Z-Buffer refers to depth. From the RPF options: "Z—Saves Z-Buffer information in repeating gradients from white to black. The gradients indicate relative depth of the object in the scene." With the Z-Buffer, you can add effects that are dependent on how far away things are from the camera, such as atmospherics. In programs such as Combustion you can also place objects behind objects in your rendered RPF file, for instance. I don't understand your question with regard to RPC content, though. You want to render separate passes, one with and one without RPC for later compositing?
