You're probably not getting many responses because your first post is very vague, and probably in the wrong section of the forum. Also this isn't the busiest forum on earth, so it's common not to get an immediate response.

Try being as specific as possible with your problem, what software you are using, and what you are trying to achieve.

Dean has said it all really. My mantra when i need help is "there is no such thing as too much information". The more we know the better picture we can make of the problem.

The way i see it there are 2 main ways of doing roughly what you ask:

1. Model the building with a 3d plan in mind (usually this is how i do it, if i know before hand, as it saves headaches later)

2. model the entire building then slice through it to reveal the 3d plan. How you slice through it is up to you. You can go through each object slicing with the slice plane and modifying as necessary. Or you can go the rough and ready route by grouping all the geometry, apply a slice modifier, and then usually a cap holes modifier. There are usually some issues that crop up doing this, but it does work.

Failing these 2 options you could just select the ceiling object and hide it.

All this does depend entirely on how you have modelled your building, as the cleaner the geometry, the easier all of this becomes.

Hope this helps.
