matthewgriswold
Create the shape of the tent in a Top View with an Editable Poly. Pick two vertices in the rough location of the peaks of the tent, enable Soft Selection and drag the vertices up in the Z-axis. Adjust the Pinch+Bubble values until you can match your reference photo. Apply a Turbosmooth Modifier to get a smoother final result. You can always enable "Show Final Result" in the Modifier Stack to see what it will look like in the end, as you adjust your vertices. dream
Thanks Matt, It really works. By making them in 2 dimensional and with soft selection tool the cone shape easily formed. Thanks again man.
Peter M. Gruhn
I don't like working with soft selection on a ton of verts. I find it hard to go back and make soft adjustments. I find it hard to get pinch and bubble quite where I want them even the first time around. Too easy to get irregularities pulled in when tweaking. So I tried a poly model (though I'm sure you could do it in a billionth the time with a tent rail nurbs). Where I needed pinching around the edges I chamfered a vert. At the top of the poles I chamfered open.
