JSS
I just installed 3ds max 2012 and V-ray 2 on 3 different pc's, and when I start my V-ray DR Spawner, absolutely nothing happens 3ds max should launch with a vrayspawner.max file I also tried booting my pc's with v-ray spawner service, but Max doesn't launch. With max 2011 I had no problems with V-ray Distribute rendering If I start 3ds max 2012 on those pc's, there are no problems rendering scenes with V-ray. So it's this DR Spawner application
Sketchrender
Have you checked for upadtes ect, I have not been through this yet. Do you know have to run back burner once? Phil
JSS
Normally it's the latest v-ray version. V-ray 2.0 SP1 I think. And I don't have much experience with backburner. At the moment I've switched back to Max 2011 and I just have to start v-ray DR spawner on some render slave pc's and I get my additional render buckets when I start to render. I don't really use backburner. So strange. I have 3ds max 2011 with VRay 2.0 installed, and when I start the DR Spawner, 3ds max launches minimized But when I do the same with 3ds max 2012 and VRay 2.0 on other computers, DR Spawner doesn't do anything at all. Vray works perfectly though in max 2012, so it's not really a license issue I think. I think I'll just work with max 2011 at the moment. Maybe in the nearby future it will solve itself. 3ds max 2012 is really nice though But the render times are just too high for 1 computer, I prefer to use my 4 other pc's at home for distributed rendering
avvid
Hi JSS. This is normally caused by a lack of permissions to the "network" folder within 3ds Max's installation folder. To resolve it, either run V-Ray Spawner as an administrator, or give "Users" "Modify" permissions on the above folder. If you need a more detailed explanation, please let me know. Good luck! JSS
Hmm. My main account is Administrator on those pc's... So normally all programs are run as administrator I think. And I installed 3ds max 2011 with V-ray 2.0 SP1 and vrayspawner2011 runs perfectly :/ But i'll give it a try Thanks
avvid
Hi JSS. My main account is Administrator on those pc's If you're on Windows XP, then it should work in that case. However, with Vista and above, if you have UAC enabled, it won't run as an administrator unless you specifically ask it to, even if you're logged-in as an admin. And I installed 3ds max 2011 with V-ray 2.0 SP1 and vrayspawner2011 runs perfectly Yeah, I noticed that, and I can't explain it. All I know is that what you're describing happens to me if I don't change permissions or run the spawner as an admin. Anyway, I'm curious as to whether this will solve your problem or not, so please post back. Thanks.
JSS
I'm not a fan of UAC, so I disabled that on those windows 7 machines... I'll do another fresh install of 3ds max 2012 tomorrow with vray 2 SP1 and I'll run it as administrator. I'll keep you posted! Thanks!

avvid
Yeah, did you sort this out?
jinsley
I figured my problem out... seems to be an issue with running the vray license server for two different versions of max... when I shut down 2011, 2012 works fantastic... and vice versa. esadi
Dear is it licenced or cracked!! Because if you paid for it then you shouldn't have any problems, it you have a crack then you need to past the crack files in the right locations.

So it's this DR Spawner application I HAD A SAME PROBLEM... AND GUYS RESOLVE THIS... VERY FUNY AND WORKS FINE Ok I got it working, you have to rename vraydummy2012.max and vraydummy2012.xml in 3ds folder to vraydummy2011.max and vraydummy2011.xml. (in max root directory is this two files) SEE THIS FORUMU, for other detail! and dont forget YOU MUST HAVE A VRAY 2.00.03 good luck! http://forum.cgpersia.com/f56/v-ray-2-00-03-2012-support-x86-x64-32033/index2.html#ixzz1bq0RNXPB
