Allen
Saw on LW list that someone from ArchFX saw RPC Plug-in for LW running on a machine at Siggraph. Beta testing in a week or two. Good news!

ingemar
All we need now is snapping, UCS, GI that works for interiors and smoother transition from AutoCad... ingemar
Allen
Amen to that! Don't care too much about UCS - but dwg import, snapping, and much improved GI - need yesterday.

IC
There's some great snapping plug-in's available on Flay. Shocking there's none built in though. I tend to get similar results importing to LW as I did with Max. Never really poses too much of a problem but again, in this day and age, it should be an automatic, faultless process. Allen
You're right on. Importing geometry should be better universally - to be honest - I have a much better time of it when building the model fully within LightWave - much cleaner model - much more control. What I really need is better, faster GI...then again maybe I just need a much faster computer :-) Back on topic though. RPC would be a great addition - I need to output these renders faster and faster so any tool that will enable me to increase speed without decreasing quality (in my clients eyes) will be very helpful. ingemar
Sorry if I stray off again... Aren't the plug ins for snapping only when moving objects? I can't make a box snapping to something when I create it? I have to make the box, then move it to snap? Please tell me I'm wrong...

I need to set apart some time to try some new plug-ins I've downloaded. Tough to do in the middle of jobs.
IC
Modeller has Drag and Snap Drag built in. You can use these to move points to the position of other points. (I personally couldn't build Arch models without them.)
mattc
Just FYI, Tuff Little Unit has been doing the Lightwave PLugin for LW 7.5 and LW 8. An OSX version should appear a little later. The plugin will be available from Archvision soon. If you have any questions, leave them here and I'll get them answered for you by the TLU folks. A few things to know though: It will not work with FPrime. It will not work with HDInstance. These are SDK limitations for the time being. Kind Regards Matt. ingemar
Ok, here are some questions: What about speed? I find that Viz4 gets quite slow when there's a bunch of RPC objects in the scene. How do they appear in OpenGL? Is the clipped part shown? ingemar
