jab
Hey guys I posted this problem a week ago with no real response, so I thought I'd try again. I posted 2 images, one wire frame, one shaded. The object in question is the telephone base which is intersecting the lamp. The telephone base was just moved, yet its 'ghost' remains. It only shows up in shaded mode, not in wire frame as you can see. Ghosting is turned off and nothing is even animated in the scene. Nothing is frozen, I can't select this 'ghost', and it doesn't render. Although ultimately this isn't affecting my final outputs (stills), its a real pain when trying to move and place things in my scene. Any ideas? My only thoughts right now is that its something wrong with the new max 2012. I've never had this problem before. Thanks!
AubreyM
Well I'd like to help but I don't use 2012 and I have never run across that problem before. I would check things like containers/layers etc. If that isn't the problem try creating a new scene and import everything in from the old file and see if it reappears. Good luck! datacrasher
i can see the the phone intersecting with the lamp but no ghost James. There are a lot of bugs in 2012 Autodesk brought max out too fast without properly testing it out look in the side view because it look-like the lamp and phone are still intersecting. As I have asked before have you added the latest service pack? Tony
jab
Hey guys, I finally figured it out. It was the 2012 Nitrous that was doing it. Not sure how to fix it yet, other then switching back to OpenGL or Direct 3d, which isn't as good as the Nitrous (in my minimal experience so far). For now I'll just deal with it. If anyone finds a solution for this please let me know. Thanks for all the help.
John Dollus
nitrous has quite a few little quirks like that. working with layers and turning visibility on/off can do similar things. with 2012, if there are any viewport related oddities, that's usually the culprit. AubreyM
Glad to hear you got it sorted out. I don't think I am going to upgrade to 2012 yet, 2011 is working fine for me.
