Lanni
How many of you keep a journal, notes or something on modeling, materials, etc... and if so what is your process of doing so? nisus
Hi Lanni, The notes that I keep are structural sketches, used for explaining modelling techniques to my collegues. Next to storyboards/pre-visuals of course... All sketches are bundled in a map, the oldest one to the back. On materials we use a material library, which we extend during every project. For articles, software references and so on, I have a few drawers stuffed with all colored printouts - I like taking notes - on about anything that cuts my interest. For books I use a hierarchical structure: from less important to very important - underline - vertical line to the side + keywords - circle around pagenumber - note of page number + keywords on the first page of the book This way, I can very easily find the most important issues of a book within a few seconds. While looking through the book again, I can find small thoughts that make me smile because I somehow forgot how an author wrote something For reference about what topics to find in what book, I seem to have a good memory rgds nisus
STRAT
i have my big black A4 diary which i use day to day for meetings notes, briefs, phonecall notes, sketching ideas etc etc... for modelling and rendering notes i usually rely on the 3d model files. i save incrimental backups durring a project so i've allways got various settings and options saved throughout a project. this is a great rescource for me - i use all these past jobs and project files as 'templates' for my next job. just pick and choose as i please.
