mechwarrior011
This is my first post, so peace to all. My question involves vray caustics not being rendered through neither DR or Backburner. When I render on workstation, the caustics come out fine. When I send it to any render node, either online or in my basic renderfarm, the caustics are not generated. This is how it looks with caustics: This is without caustics: And this is the caustics pass: I'm rather new at 3ds Max and 3D Modeling, so I hope someone with a firm knowledge of the both 3ds Max and VRay can help me. Chris MacDonald
I'm fairly sure (though not done it before) that you need to both generate and save out the caustics map where each render node can access it. http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/200R1/render_params_caustics.htm Under the "mode" section on the caustics rollout, browse for a place to save the caustics map. To generate the caustics map without rendering you must go into the VRay Global Switches and check the "don't render final image" option. When you hit render this will then begin generating all of your GI maps (including caustics) which you can then tell VRay to use when you render the final image pass. mechwarrior011
I tried it, but the caustics just won't render. I'm trying to merge the scene into a new one, to see if the old file was corrupted.
