ShaunDon
Anyone on here use V-Ray and do render passes? I've got a couple complex stills that I really would like to render out specular, reflection, diffuse, shadow, etc., passes for and comp it in Photoshop... but there's no real support for such a process in the current release of V-Ray. I was wondering if there was anyone here who was used to rendering in passes and had any fancy-pants workarounds for the process. I'm hesitant to ask since workarounds involve, well, work -- not to put too fine a point on it. And you've gotta ask yourself, is that really what we're in this business for? Oh Jesus, it's Monday... Thanks guys. Viva la 1.5! Shaun
alkis t.
the current version supports passes(1.45.70) but they are named render elements instead have a look at the help files where there are some examples as well , they are a good starting point regards
ShaunDon
Yeah, this is basically all I've been able to find out to do. Unfortunately working in a production environment I'm a little sketchy about using a beta, though I probably would do it for this job. But we're also still using 4.2, so I'd have to upgrade all our machines to 6 (which we have, just been waiting for 1.5 final because we depend on distributive rendering functionality), and we just don't have the time. Nevermind the risk it puts our production schedule in having to work out bugs and new quirks in software while working under intense deadlines. I'll just have to wait to be able to work with render passes. Thanks for the advice. I definitely look forward to this upgrade. Shaun
