Cjmcphail
Hi Guys, I’m finding myself wondering how the attached image was modelled, I found it in an architectural magazine. I appears to be some kind of fall off edit poly extrusion, I have tried to figure out how to replicate it but and all out of ideas. can anyone help? A.Mitov
Looks like some type of script similar to "greeble" was used.
Msamir
I think its greeble with the plane subdivided into triangles
Cjmcphail
I agree on the triangles and the greeble, but its the way the extruded height seems to be less or "falls off" the further from the central height.
Peter M. Gruhn
Second guess is that any of the pin screen tuts might shed some light. First guess was to use Design Reforms tuts like follows (mine is simplified from the target image): - make a single plane - instance it a lot - select all instances - apply an Affect Region for the height with falloff - apply a noise to shake it up - apply an Edit Poly and slap the Z button to level off each plane again - apply a Shell to thick them up

Itoosoft
Using two Forest Lite objects, applying a scale map on Z axis. You can adjust parametrically any parameter, animate it, etc. I've attached the scene for max 2010. Edited July 31, 2011 by Itoosoft
