Cesar R
I noticed that on the Demo of Fry I can assign light meshed to a light layer slider. Is this possible with Arion? from doing some research (looking at screen grabs) It doesnt seem to have such menu, or any of the other image enhancing features that fry does, such as vignetting and glow ect. Is this correct? - does this mean that IF I need or would like light layers I need to purchase Fry rather than Arion?
Fran
Hi Cesar, Arion doesn't have light layer blending or post-processing controls.
Cesar R
Hi Cesar, Arion doesn't have light layer blending or post-processing controls. Thank you Fran, I just downloaded the demo, btw. But my question then is, how would I adjust the ligh intensity of an object (mesh light) in a scene to be lit by arion.
jsf
You can change the properties of an emitter material while Arion is running in the Arion material editor. Giving each object (mesh light) it's own emitter material will allow you control the lights in a similar manner to layer blending.
Cesar R
yeah? let me look around in the program. Thanks. But what happens I gues if I have a scene with 20+ down lights... I guess I can attached the same material to a group of lights.
Fran
If the downlights need to be controlled individually in Arion, then assigning them each a unique emitter material is the only way to control them. You can assign the same material to several lights that will all be controlled together.
Cesar R
thank you. You are correct, not a big deal in terms on the feature not being there. However I wonder why? I wonder if there is an online manual for it like there is for FRY? Im mostly interested in understanding the Camera controls. There seems to be an AUTOFOCUS check box. in there camera properties panel. How does it work or what does it do? - I was hoping to click on an object in the scene and have it focus to that and blur everything else? (I know the F-stop will blur things) so i am wondering if arion will work like my DSLR lol.
Fran
Hi Cesar, a lower f-stop will increase the DOF effect. In order to direct the focus of the camera in Arion, ctrl-click the focus point you want in the Explorer window (frame buffer). Here is a diagram that describes the mouse functions in Arion Select Mode: What is not noted in the diagram is that you can press/drag with the scroll wheel to pan. In Zoom mode (hand icon), you can only pan and zoom. Any button you hold down pans, and the scroll wheel zooms in and out.
Cesar R
Thank you it work like my DSLR IF autofocus is ON, does the target distance become redundant / not needed?
