Animations - render output file path

Hi,

Can someone please help. I am using 3ds max design 2012 and am currently trying to execute an internal animation of a museum project.

When I go to the 'Files' button under the 'Render Output' rollout in the Render Setup dialog nothing happens. I cannot navigate a path to store my frames. Instead the file location is frozen as C:\Document and Settings\@_@ BB\300000.

I need to get this animation done asap. If anybody can help I would be really grateful.

Thanks in advance, Stewart Reid

Hey Stewart, try this:

1. make sure you've saved your last progress

2. go to file->Reset to reset your scene

3. merge your last saved scene into this blank one

4. Everything in the rendering menu should have reset to the default values and hopefully it will let you choose a directory to save your animation sequence to

also i would navigate to that file C:\Document and Settings\@_@ BB\30000 and delete that file see if you can change your file. If you cannot delete that file then i would go into your computer safe mode then access it from there and delete that file

Alexander,

Thank you very much - this has solved the problem however something else has now happened.

When I render all my lights are incredibly bright - Do you think this is to do with a default setting in my preferences.

Thanks

Stewart

Great, I'm happy that it worked.

Yes, the Reset function resets everything as well as the Rendering menu so your rendering engine setting will be reset too. Just go back to your previous scene and save a preset of the rendering settings preset. If you are using V-ray you can do so by going into Render-> Settings tab-> Presets (at the very bottom of the window). Then go back to the reset scene and load the preset from the same button.

Just a reminder that you can always fix paths for 3dsmax by using the asset tracker. Press shift-T and at the bottom of the list of all the current assets you'll see the path and file output name for the render output. right click on it and you can repath, or change the output file name.

in photo 1 the photo is too stretched over the back wall add some reflections to the floor set the raytrace about 15% and the eviroment photo windows look bent to me.

Thanks for tips Tony. I can see what you mean - great to get other people's take on it.

Brian,

Yeah I have used the asset tracker once before when I tried to render to a small render farm and my material paths were causing problems. The more I learn about max the more awsome it becomes.

Kind regards,

Stewart
