Problem: How to manipulate shadows when using vray dome light (image based lighting)?

I currently find it more realistic using vray dome light (Image based lighting) compare to other techniques in lighting exterior scenes...

most specially because of just few settings to tweak..

but I cannot manipulate the kind of shadow orientation that I want..

is there a possibility in doing it without disturbing the current position of HDRI background in the viewport?

Yes, you could copy the HDRI map to your material editor and create a duplicate. Copy it to the environment slot and make your dome light invisible. That way you have two versions of the HDRI tht you can control independantly, one for lighting the other for your background.

Also I should add that in order to rotate the HDR you will need to change the horizontal rotation value, rotating the dome light won't have any effect.

Awesome!

Thank you very much Stephen! :)
