CEJ1976
Hi, I am currently testing out 3ds max 2012 having made the step from 2009. However, I can't seem to find the option within the compact material editor that allows me to merge materials directly from other scenes? Can anyone help? Thanks. datacrasher
Ciaran You should not need to compact the material once you merge an object into your scene max will take the textures too
CEJ1976
Thanks, yes materials come across fine when you merge geometry. However, there used to be an option to just merge the material directly from a scene without having to select a piece of geometry?? Any ideas? Ricardo Eloy
Click the Get Material button on the Compact Editor and, in the Material/Map Browser, click the "eject" button on the left of the Search by Name field.
CEJ1976
Rick, Thanks for helping out. I don't seem to have the 'eject' option in my material/map browser though when in compact mode? Attached is a grab of what I see. Cheers.
Jan
He's talking about the "inverted eject" in your screen grab. In this menu, select "open material library" and use *.max as file type. You can open any max scene only for extract materials in this way.
