Elliot
Hello, I know this forum is for issues with our modelling and rendering programs. However, I am in desperate need of help with a strange situation with outlook express. The darn Windows XP was OK. I turned it off this evening. Upon getting back and turning it on.... Then checking my E Mails...... SURPRISE...... ALL THE EMAILS ARE GONE. I have two drives on this machine. I quickly went where I have the messages on the C drive. I saw them..... Then checked on my secondary drive "F" where I also keep a copy and they were there too. Next thought is that Outlook lost the setting of where to point for the messages. Then checked Outlook Express and noticed the program had changed the file location settings. Simple.... I pointed Outlook express to the files. Nothing showed up..... Then I went to the "C" drive where 3 minutes before I saw all the DBX files ..... They were gone......!!!!!! They disappeared....... !!!!! Then got scared and zoomed at supersonic speed to the "F" drive...... the DBX's gone too. All the DBX files gone.......!!!! I mean all..... not only the ones with Outlook Express.....!!!!! All of the DBX's.... I saw them 4 or 5 minutes previous to my second revision..... Gone from both drives, like magic. I checked everywhere.... SIMPLY GONE...... AS GONE WITH THE WIND.....!!!!!! Have anybody experienced this before...? All the DBX files have been wiped out from the two drives. Is there a virus causing this. I have a lot of protection for viruses on top of the router. I use AVG Anti Virus since Norton had caused a problem on my machines. This AVG Anti Virus seems to work fine. I run the antivirus every other night. I just ran it a while ago.... no Virus.... I THINK THE IDIOT OF BILL GATES SHOULD DO JAIL TIME FOR ALL THE SECURITY ISSUES WITH WITH HIS ABSURD PROGRAMS. HE EVEN WENT TO COURT TO KEEP THE OUTLOOK ON WINDOWS SO THEY CAN FLOOD US WITH VIRUSES. On a primary backup not connected to the machine I have copies of the DBX's that covers everything up to about two weeks ago. However, I am afraid of connecting it to the machine. I am afraid the DBX's will be erased. Has anybody heard about this problem before. I lost over a thousand E Mails. I have a problem with these arrogant incompetent idiots of MS. It is not only Bill Gates, Paul Allen is one of the main investors of my service provider, Charter. They are no good either. They have a take it or leave it attitude. I have a problem with a guy that runs around on his private personal business jet, a Boeing 757. And they can not make this thing work.... I understand there is some problem with Service Pack 2. What else can we expect.....!!!! I am super carefull since my business depends on these machines. I don't open E Mails from unknown sources. Sometimes I get attachments from people I know very well.... If they are not related to the business I trash them. I don't visit too many sites. Basically I do my modelling and check on CG Architect and CNN News. What in the world chould have caused this strange thing....? Elliot
Elliot
I just witnessed how Windows XP (Bill Gates) erased some very important files from my computer with no input from me. I did a search and the files where found. I did a second search for something else, then less than 3 minutes later I came back and repeated the first search. To my surprise, all the files ending in DBX where erased from BOTH hardrives with no input from me. Incredible, I have witnessed this with my very own eyes. If they would have told me something like this I would have not believed it. No virueses on my computer, I have a super clean system. It just happened with no explanation. I lost some very important files for my business. Never again I will never trust Microsoft. I will start looking into Linux or Apple, there has to be something better than windows. Discreet is not to far out with their sudden crashes on Viz. We never can predict what will happen with these softwares. However, we can predict there will be an upgrade every so often. Upgrades that are launched before they are fine tuned... Elliot
lamda
The open .dbx files and email recovery has prompted you a path of the Outlook Express files' storage. And now save the damaged dbx files in the safe folder, they can be useful.
