ssstrutz
Hello, I am having issues with a newly installed version of Vray 2.0 with 3D Studio max Design 2011. When I go to the material editor the materials do not show the diffuse map and bump on the sample. They do change to a color and do seem to have a reflection to them, but the diffuse map is not showing. You can not tell what the materials are Any ideas how I can make the samples appear like the real diffuse map? Thanks!
Devin Johnston
Click on the diffuse map and see if you have show shaded material in viewport turned off.
ssstrutz
It is on. The images show up fine in the viewport. They just do not show up correctly in the material editor for some reason. Thanks for the help.
Shaun Hamm
I'm guessing you have the bitmap for the material set to real world size with real world values set. If you have the "use real-world size" option enabled, it doesn't show up fully. Need to have it unticked and tiling set to 1.0. You would have to set the material size in your UVW modifier if you keep that unticked in your material. ssstrutz
Shaun, I tried what you said but it did not do anything. I am including a screen shot of the material editor and what the bmp is. Maybe this will help explain. Again, the material is fine in the viewport, just not the material editor. As you can see most of the materials are that way. Thanks! Scott Schroeder
Do they render correctly or do they render just like the material balls? What does the material look like when you hit render, not just view image? I could be your diffuse map is turned off. It will be a lower case "m" if it is disabled. If it's on it will be an upper case "M" on the map slot. If not, can you post a screencap of the root of the material, ie the main part and not the bitmap part? Where did you get this material and the scene? Is it yours or is it from another source? Did you create the material or was it included in a scene that you opened? ssstrutz
Hello, It does render correctly, it just does not appear on the material editor samples. I have no idea what the material looks like until I render the image. The 'M' is upper case. I did include another screenshot. It also shows the viewport with material showing and the rendered test image. I got this specific material from vray-materials.de. However, not all of the materials in the scene are from there. Most of them are materials I have made and they do not show up either. I am running windows 7, 64-bit also if that might make a difference. Thanks for the help!! ssstrutz
I just received the answer from Chaos group. In the material editor under options, there is a check box that says 'use real-world map size for geometry samples' This box needs to be unchecked. Hopefully this helps out any one else that might have this issue. Thanks for the help to everyone. Scott
