ihabkal
95% of the 3d Artists I met from Lebanon, to Egypt, USA and Canada, and especially the USA, don't know Autocad. I have seen 3d Artists tracing a 2d scan of a bridge in 3dsmax. plus you can never know all the software, every year they come up with something new. The way I see it if you know only the tools necessary to produce what you want to produce, and the client is happy and paying, then goal achieved. Scott Schroeder
It depends on what you want to do. I know AutoCAD well enough to use it for my purposes. Either create a rough set of plans, or to simply clean up client provided CAD to import into Max as guides for modeling. If anything, my advice would be to get familiar with the basic commands of AutoCAD. Know how to draw rough floor plans, rough dimensions, and the commands/process for XREFS and what not. To answer your question, I'm a master of the fundamentals of AutoCAD. Anything outside of the core basics, I need to usually use the Google or ask someone who uses AutoCAD daily. cgfx
thanks for both your advices, velvet and ihabkal it would seem that in the arch viz industry in my country are still consider in infancy stages - most of the time i did went for interview, the response i get is they are looking more towards a draft monkey (no offense intended) i think i'll at least get a basic understanding on autocad, see how things works out speaking of which, i heard of softwares like ArchiCAD or InteriCAD which are able to generate 2D drawings/sections/elevations as well as 3D perspectives in 1 go anyone tried those before?
