Tommy L
I have a camera (Spheron) that will only run when tethered to a 32 bit operating system . The laptop that I used for it died. I have two other laptops... One is brand new and has Win 7 home edition. One is very old and has XPpro64. Are there any emulators out there? Slinger
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896456 You should be completely fine with running a 32bit program on a 64bit OS. The only time you run into an issue is when trying to run a 64bit program on a 32bit OS.
Tommy L
This is an excerpt from your link and describes my problem: "32-bit drivers The x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition do not support 32-bit drivers. All hardware device drivers and program drivers must be compiled specifically for the x64-based version of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition." The driver for the camera is 32bit. So the software runs fine, but the camera driver wont work. I think Im going to have to partition my drive on the new machine and have 2 OS's. Kind of annoying as I dont want to uninstall everything off a new laptop. Just asking for driver issues for the next few days...
Tommy L
ok, so i think i pretty much have it solved. apparently i need to download Windows XP Mode for Win7 Pro. As long as my chip supports Intel VT and the BIOS has Virtualization Enabled then I should essentially have an OS emulator.
