AubreyM
Love the building. Brick textures could use some work and a better background but you said it's a wip so you probably know that already Looking forward to the updates.
aristocratic3d
Did you modeled the interior or was just textures? If they are modeled then it does not look that good. If texture then its nice.
aristocratic3d
I also did not like the oily and reflective concrete in front of the building.
Gary Ledgerwood
Thanks for your comments! Yes, those are textures in the windows. As this project evolves I plan to model the interior. And your point is noted about the asphalt. I have yet to find or create a texture I am satisfied with.
Red33
Looks great! I would try to get the whole building into the picture if possible. I would also add to the foreground to soften the image a bit and reduce the amount of asphalt. Would you mind sharing your work flow for adding the textures in the windows? Thanks for the input Randy. As I progress further into this project, I will be looking at other views that will incorporate the entire existing building. This view was my first shot at a design to give the client an idea of our direction. I agree with your comments and will definitely embellish the foreground as I develop the design further. This particular image was produced under a pretty short timeframe. As for the windows, I went to cgtextures.com and found some night window images... http://cgtextures.com/textures.php?t=browse&q=51213 Then I applied them to planes behind the glass and added self illumination. I use Mental Ray, so it is just a simple A&D material and then copy the diffuse map into the self illumination (glow) slot. Check both glow options boxes and adjust the luminance values to your liking. Hopefully this makes sense... Its not the best method but its a whole lot faster than modeling the interior. )
Red33
Thanks for the info! I use vray for sketchup, but I get the idea. I used the technique in my last post in the forum and I think it worked great. I look forward to using it more often in the future. I'm getting more requests for evening shots lately, so this was definitely helpful!
