murtadha
Hello everybody, I ‘m new here , my name is murtadha , I am an architect from Australia , just started using mental ray and I have a question already ! I was following the (lighting & rendering) tutorial (3ds Max9) step by step and I reached the point when I should use the (mr sky) & (mr sun) to get the sky natural color when I render the scene, up to the tutorial I should see a dialog box appears, asking if I want to use the mental ray Physical Sky shader and I should click yes, but this dialog box doesn’t appear , and in this case the sky I got is black ! Any idea how to solve this thing Appreciate any comments
Scott Schroeder
My bet is that the auto sky feature you see wasn't implemented in Max 9. I think that feature came later. What you have to do is manually drop the MR Sky material into your Environment Material slot. Create a new material and choose MR Physical Sky or MR Environment, I can't remember what exactly it's called. The drag that material into your environment map slot, making sure you instance it.
