branskyj
I also use the basic model Space Navigator and I will tell you one thing- I would never go back to using the navigation tools in 3DS Max. Once I got used to the 3D mouse it's just miles ahead of anything 3DS Max has. Of cours you need to get used to it first but that takes no time. Besides, there are tutorials provided with the software. My advice- get one now. Good luck

Cyberstyle
I'm not saying that these things are good or bad but my personal experience was that I did not like them. I had the basic space navigator which I bought thinking it would be the best thing ever, but was dissapointed. I actually threw it out just recently as it sat unused in a desk draw for 4 years. I admit I did not give it a really good go, but from what I did use of it I thought it was quite awkward and uncomfortable to use. My point to this is that no matter how many say they are fantastic, the 3d mouse may or may not be the right tool for you.
