gerald.untario
Hi all, I have this model in sketchup, but I want to get the roof form in 3ds max. In sketchup its pretty blocky, because I used the 'soap, skin, bubble' plugin, and I was wondering whether I can create this kind of roof form in max which will give me a better high-poly result. If possible, controllable through some value or something. Thanks guys! P.S. - In sketchup, to get a higher poly using the soap skin bubble will take ages for it to calculate the bubble. Matt McDonald
you might be able to do it with a loft object or, import the geometry, create a series of arcs (by snapping to the imported geometry, like the arcs together using additional splines and then applying the surface modifer to it. sanmb
Hi Gerald, I will suggest to use edit poly modelling. You can search on youtube, there are many tutorials.
pailhead
In order to get this, you can be more liberal with modeling your shape (could be a loft, could be edit poly) but be sure to use the slice modifier to get the planar base.
NeWAcEiN
here's the trick draw sphere make it hemisphere, now convert it to editable po,ly del. bottom planer faces now u have hollow hemisphere now here u have to imagine what u r up to what kindaa shape u want to model -> now apply FFD BOX modifier on top of sphere, set the desired subdivisions and start tweaking . the screenshots u provided is so fast and simple to achieve using FFD give it a try !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
