Cjmcphail
Hi All, I’m having a problem with the import of DWG’s from Revit 2012 to 3Ds Max Design 2012. Certain Family types Import but wont display until they are converted to and Editable poly. You can select them can the and bounding box will be visible along with the object name, just not the Geometry itself. Has anybody had a similar issue? matthewgriswold
No, sorry, but have you tried FBX format? From my experience, that's the standard transfer format from Revit to 3ds Max.
Cjmcphail
I prefer to use the DWG Im my work flow rather then the FBX Because for example, with a window you have frame and glass. and the remain seperate objects with the DWG and with the FBX ( Unless there is a way to do this I dont know about) they become one object with a MultiSub Material, and I use Vray and the first thing I do when im porting a model is aply a white basic material. I Just Prefer the flexibility of the DWG
Justin Hunt
I have had this problem on my machine, but the file works fine on other machines (with the same setup). One work round (although not the best) is to explode the objects in Acad befire linking them into Max. jhv
matthewgriswold
Sorry the only solutions I can think of are work-arounds, not solutions. :\
datacrasher
why not upload the file you;re trying to import to here and we mite be able to help you, As long as you have all your objects named and none of them have the same name if your importing one scene to another. if you have layer then max won't like that from what i can tell in the reference Tony
Cjmcphail
Hi guys, Ive come up with/stumbled upon a work around that seems to be a fairly easy way to deal with this problem. If you set up a new revit Project (for the sake os this we can call it VIZ) and link your revit Revit Building Model/s into the VIZ Project then export, all geometry is now showing.
