erkutacar
why would an IES light cut-off sharply? i use the same light on different wall illuminating the same floor material in the same room and that light works perfectly.. there is no problem with the illumination of the light, only shadows and cut-off.. the bump map (floor tile) is not working properly in the areas illuminated with the faulty light.. it looks overlapped.. im at work atm and will upload images in 3 to 4 hours
Stephen Thomas
I've had a similar light problem before and solved it by unchecking the 'MAX-compatible ShadeContext' box under settings.

erkutacar
here, do u see how the light coming from kitchen is cut off in the middle of living room? its the same IES as the piston lights in the living room.. plus no matter what i do i cant get smooth fluorescent light.. this is mesh light.. i tried making it invisible and giving the mash vraylightmtl with very little intensity too.. i tried upping light subdivs, irmap subdivs and interpolation.. more lightcache.. didnt do any good
Stephen Thomas
If you tried my first suggestion with no success I would try lowering the refelction cutoff of your floor material next. Go to options tab in your vray material and change coutoff value to 0.0001, see if that helps.

matthewgriswold
call me crazy, but are you sure that's not an optical illusion from the current point of view? It looks like the reflected light is being "cut off", but I think it's the soffit that the lights are housed in that is reflecting the hard edge...maybe the bar? Try assigning saturated, vibrant colors to different elements in the kitchen (ie. pink for the walls, blue for the bar and red for the ceiling) and check your reflections on the floor. That might give you a clue as to what, geometry or something else, is cutting off the light.
