Justin Hunt
Well I have finally written my first tutorial for my blog. Its showing a typical lighting setup I use for interior renders with mentalray. Being my first tut, I know there is room for improvment, take a look and let me know what needs fixing. http://justinhuntvisualization.blogspot.com/ Thanks jhv
Justin Hunt
I have made a few fixes and updates to the tutorial, mainly getting a better and more detailed photon solution. http://justinhuntvisualization.blogspot.com/ Thanks JHV
Cesar R
Hi Justin, thank you for the tutorial very nice and easy to understand. I came across this post because I am looking to make a clay render like the ones often time found around the web in which you see a nice warm tint to the sun exposed areas, and a cool tint to the areas in shade. I wonder if those images where created by tweaking the red/blue hues value like you have.
Justin Hunt
Correct, I also find by adjusting the red/blue tint also gives a bit more depth to the lighting. One small tip I learnt from Jeff Patton was to set the exposure control white balance to 100 to eliminate the green tint that the mr exposure tents to have. jhv
Cesar R
^ you mean the "whitepoint value" in the mr photographic exposure dialog? but yes I did notice the tweaking the Red/Blue values does produce a much nicer render.

Cesar R
Very helpful indeed. Now we need MR for Rhino I think the success is in being able to understand how to tweak the MR environment map. Here is a render I made with the help of you tutorial: Edited October 12, 2011 by Cesar R note to self: make sure you're making sense...
