Mokiloke
Hi I am working on my second night shot ever and am finding it to be a bit of a dark art, with very little info on techniques. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So far I have some balcony lights. Some blue tinged uplighters spots and some downlighters spots on the pavers. Also have some specular bloom happening. pmanahan
I think it looks great. The only thing that I noticed is the white line on the ground seperating the sidewalk from the street. It is a bit too bright, especially in the shadows. pmanahan

Brian Cassil
I love it! This is only your second night shot ever!? Well done indeed, I agree that all it needs are some motion blurred cars streaking across the foreground, and maybe motion blurred people as well. Mokiloke
Thats for the crits guys, Im yet to put in people and trees adn think I will go at bit light on the car streaks its residential/commercial mix. ANd the red poles are just people hight markers. I have studied a lot of night shots and they have this interior glowing ambience. Heres an example http://www.amdrendering.com/new/projects/fsf/oslo/oslob.jpg and another http://www.crystalcg.com/new/xinshang/003/images/gjyj-002-1.jpg How is this achieved, - volume lights? - ambient only lights? - self illuminated materials? self illuminated glass. - glow filter? Ill keep posting as I go.
donix
well done dude. nice design also. i think what's left to do is how you will placed your entourage as to make the scene much better..... place some lighted cars.... i think much better if you can place also some wall paintings on your internal walls. keep it up. show some more. Crazy Homeless Guy
i am in agreement about leaving people and cars out. maybe you ned some mid background details. either a cople of trees, bldgs, or something that is not on the horizon, but not in the foreground either. not necessary, but maybe add more details in the lobby area. ....and i have always been a proponent of no parallex, but everyone has their opinion on that. Mokiloke
Here a slight update with more activity inside, revised lighting, trees. The client still wants activity on the balconies which I will put it. Also I agree that it need something in background or foreground to give a greater feeling of depth, and maybe some street lights. Any comments on lighting, I have gone with a lot of bloom.
Mokiloke
Heres the final shot I submitted. The only thing I regret is the background which I had put some buiding montaged in from a still but which the client got me to remove.
