3ply
I'm not that familiar with rendering an animation in MR. I found a feature that I turned on "reuse geometry and final gather". I also activated single file only (best for walkthrough and stills)...When I render the animation the first frame is broken into 9 tiled images during computing final gather. This first frame will take about 2 hours to render. After it completes computing final gather it continues to rendering normally. Each consecutive frame will skip the final gather and rendering in about 2 minutes! This is great but when I stop the rendering and close 3D Studio then reopen and continue rendering Max will render the final gather again which takes another 2 hours. Is there a way to save the cached info so I don't have to wait 2 hours?? Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about .
3ply
I figured it out! I noticed each time I started rendering the animation it over wrote the cached file temp.fgm. So after it finished rendering the first frame and the temp.fgm was written I copied it into a different folder. Now when I render this animation on different computers I can specify that file. This saves alot of time!
jair_gh
I think you have to change the reuse of FG from incrementally add points to read only
