light exclude??

hey ive got a funny problem with the light exclude option.. for some reason an object i exclude from shadow calculation still casts shadow eventhough i had also disabled "cast shadows" from object properties..

ive got a square frosted glass(25cm x 25cm x 1cm) in front of an IES light and i dont want the edges of the glass to cast shadow on the ceiling.. in fact i dont want the glass to cast any shadows at all.. even if i make it clear glass edges still cast shadows..

here is how it looks:

and this is with the light model layer disabled:

i want the light to look like this... the only way i can achieve this is to make glass IOR 1.. then its completely invisible :)

even with two spherical photometric lights turned on, it still has a crisp shadow..

Select the glass object, go to the object properties of the geometry itself, and uncheck cast shadows.

Don't do this with lights and include/excludes or even worry about it in the material settings. Simply set the piece of geometry to not cast shadows.

IES lights in Mental Ray can be quite a pain with inclusion/exclusions.
