nisus
Hi all, I've downloaded a file called glare.max from a link that Jeff Patton (if i'm not mistaken) has put somewhere on this forum... In the file, a GLARE (lume) shader is used, but I can't find where to add it in other scenes... As far as I've been able to check out, it is some kind of an environment shader... But i don't know where t place it... Can anyone help me out? tnx nisus
pixelperfectg
The glare shader is a camera shader. To use it, I had to edit my lume.mi file to unlock it first (just remove the word hidden infront of the glare section). Now, since I unlocked it and added it to that scene, you were able to see the glare shader in that specific scene. However, if you haven't unlocked it from your own lume.mi file then when you build a new scene, the glare shader will be locked and not visible. Did that make sense? nisus
Tnx. I've changed the lume.mi, restarted max, but can't find the shader yet... Maybe when i'll reboot... I'll just ask up front, because I feel I'll need it anyway: Where do I have to add the shader exactly? rgds nisus

(Can't load the shader yet, but i guess i'll have to reboot...) rgds nisus you can drag the glare slot into the material editor and then save it as any other material. then you can drag it in other scenes to it is very touchy to set the parameters right, a bit to much and your scene will look like it just had a nuclear blast happening outside
nisus
ok, more probs... since I've changed the lume.mi, I cannot apply ANY MR-shader anymore, because I crash instantly... I've restored the old file, and even downed and installed the SP1... but no luck. Anyone got a clue??? rgds nisus
pixelperfectg
After I edited the .mi files and such, I posted the files at cgtalk. Here's a direct link to the download if you want to try using them to see if it corrects your problem: http://www.pixelperfectgraphics.biz/cg_files/mray-files.zip Jeff

pixelperfectg
Did you delete the MR directory prior to restoring from the CD? Seems like that worked for me before. Jeff

joske
well then the only 'quick' solution would be to re-install max i guess... the only way to be sure.
nisus
Hi all, I solved the problem copying the files that Jeff gave me BUT... one day after everything was fixed, I got a serious error with the max6 licence... Nor our dealer, nor the Autodesk registration help desk could solve the problem so far... Also, I had to reregister my photoshop licence... Not a clue how this can happen all together, nor whether those are linked in anyway... Honestly, I have no idea what's going on, but I'm going for a full re-install now... I'm not sure to install the glare again... I definately want to, but I'm not sure if this generated my probs or not... Anyone else has modified the MR-files? rgds nisus
