Keen098
Hallo Everybody, I have a problem with my Arroway Textures and 3DS Max with Vray. After Creating a new Vray Material with a diffuse and bump map, i can't place the new Material on a objekt, the color of the object changed but there is still no texture on it??? The preview of the Textures is fine, you can see the final texture with nice bump effect but it doesen't work on created objects, walls etc... (Show Standard Map in Viewport) is already activated. Rendering doesn't work, the color changed but there is still no texture too. Any idea? Thanks! Edited October 2, 2011 by Keen098
luthias42
Try adding a UVW map modifier to the object.
Keen098
Already tried... Nothing changes...
luthias42
Just out of curiosity, what happens when you render it? the only thing I can think of at the moment is that you may not have the "Show Standard Map in Viewport" option on.
Keen098
There is no texture after rendering the scene, just the color like on the screenshot. Show Standard map in viewport is already activated, but there is still no texture in the scene. It makes me crazy... I don't know what the problem is...) NeWAcEiN
chk out asset tracker(if file status says missing, give it the path where u have u r textures ) and enable render message window so u can chk if the bitmap fails to load while rendering it happens with some image fomats . or else make sure u r not using bitmaps from netwrork hard drive etc which is not accessible while rendering !!!!!!!! try this out and reply and 1 more thing the screen shot u provided dosent gives u r max version info . pls update that as well and if u want, just chk and enable hardware shading option (shift+F3), and its related options from shade settings it might solve viewport problem Edited October 3, 2011 by NeWAcEiN
Keen098
I use JPEG and PNG files located on the Desktop, so with the path sohuld be no problem. About the software 3DS Max 2012 Vray 2.

Have you tried resetting max, importing this object into another scene... or simply creating another scene. I wouldnt keep my textures on the desktop. pailhead
Maybe you have an override material in vray rendering dialog.

Lis
Keen098 - First at all you should NOT share Copyrighted textures. In which version of 3ds Max did you save it? Can You save it in 2011?
pailhead
Ouch yes, you can get in trouble. Just go to photoshop open the same texture, fill it with say white color, and overwrite it.

pailhead
This seems to work fine on my computer. Have you unchecked "real-world map size?
Keen098
Where i can find these option?
pailhead
Well in your particular scene you seem only to have a box in there. You can tick it in it's modifier dialog. It's also in the actual bitmap settings, somewhere around the mapping/tiling parameters.
Keen098
After unchaking "real world map size" and cheking "orginalskalierung verwenden" i can see the material in the viewport but no more in the vray material prewiev... ??? look at the screenshot... pailhead
Honestly, i find that whole thing a bit confusing. I have no idea how it works nor do i want to find out lol. I've never had any luck with those things that are intended to make your life easier. I still load my mp3s and read them as file, i've never ever made a playlist. I first encountered this when trying to use ghost town, i couldnt, for the love of god get the textures to stay correct when importing from one scene to the other. Mein deutsch ist nich so gut, ich habe keine ahnung was "orginalskalierung verwenden". Original scale properties or something? I'm not sure though what are you doing wrong. Have you ever mapped something so it worked? I would uncheck that parameter everywhere i find it.
Keen098
No, i never worked with 3DS Max before. I used the last four weeks to "learn" modeling polygons in 3ds max. Now im trying and learining rendering, lighting etc... "originalskalierung verwenden" means "use original scaling" and by the way, your german seems to bee good enough...) You can find the option "use original scaling" in the material editor, in vraymtrl, maps, klick on the diffuse map and than coordination.
pailhead
By default i think that max shouldn't use real world mapping so if you reset your scene it should work fine. It was definitely mapped wrong when i opened the scene but just unticking that parameter worked.
Keen098
what you mean with reset the scene?
NeWAcEiN
hey dude i have downloaded u r scene file it appears ok on my max so the problem lies on u r end solely !!!!!!!!!! make sure u r GPU drivers r upto date and u r not using SM 3.0 4.0 which is killing u r card try to use the lower 1 than what u have i mean i f ur card supports 3.0 try to run it on 2.0 if 4.0 then use 3.0 simple as that. plus chk the DX version as well if u r running it on 10 rever back to 9 if 9 .0 switch it to 10.0 that will reset the display if u r problem is resolved ignore this chk the SShot incl.
